A French kid
who watched too many films.

Chloé Latrech is a French-American writer-director based in New York. Born in Paris, trained at NYIT and Met Film School London, she works between writing, directing, camera, and production — short films, branded commercials, and the small moments in between.

Origins · Paris & New York

Raised between two languages, two cities, and a lot of films.

Chloé grew up French — Paris in her ear, family meals long enough for a second feature. She moved between cities early, picked up English to film-school level, and Spanish in conversation. She started rewriting scenes in her head before she ever held a camera. By the time she was applying to undergrad, she'd already decided: directing.

NYIT · 2017 — 2021 · New York

Four years at NYIT. Magna Cum Laude.

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication & Media Production at the New York Institute of Technology. Four years of foundational training across screenwriting, production, cinematography, editing, and sound. Two years on student crews, two as a director-in-residence on the senior thesis circuit.

Wrote and directed No End in Heist — winner of Best Comedy Film at the NYIT Film & Animation Festival. Built a working portfolio of shorts including Cult Break, Good Grief, Memory-OS, and Anne Hatchet across writing, directing, and camera roles. Graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2021.

London · 2022 — 2023 · Met Film School

Master of Fine Arts in Film Directing.

Crossed the Atlantic for graduate study at Met Film School, London. A working-studio program — daily access to soundstages, full equipment lockers, faculty drawn from active UK industry. An English crew, a grey city, the kind of training that rewires the eye.

Directed QWRKI, a branded commercial shot in central London, client-direct, page to picture in twelve weeks. Worked 2nd AC on Low Power Mode, a short by classmates. Wrote and shot extensively, including pieces never released — the kind of yardage that only exists to make the next thing better.

The working set · 2021 — present · New York

The trade learned from every angle.

Back in New York. 1st Assistant Director on Resurrected (2021). On-set Production Assistant on Showtime's Flatbush Misdemeanors (2021). PA on DGMG's branded commercial When the CEO Doesn't Get Marketing the same year.

Since 2024, staff fabricator at 11th St Workshop in Jersey City — building scenic and prop-based equipment for film, commercial, and event productions. In July 2025, joined the camera department on Elizabeth Arden's commercial campaign. Front-of-house and event-aide work at Regal film premieres in between, because film school never really ends — it just moves to the floor.

Le cinéma, c'est l'écriture moderne dont l'encre est la lumière.
